Heating engineers in Ware
Boiler repairs, servicing, replacements and landlord gas safety checks for homes in Ware, Stanstead Abbotts and the surrounding villages.
What are Ware's homes like?
Ware is an old river town on the Lea, and its long history of malting still shapes the streets around the centre. Much of the middle of town is a conservation area, where listed houses, former inns and converted industrial buildings sit close together. Victorian and Edwardian terraces fill many of the nearby roads, and later estates and newer housing spread out towards the edges of town and the villages beyond.
What heating questions come up in older Ware houses?
A terraced house that has stood for well over a century has often been through several heating systems. It is common to find traces of each: an old gas fire in a front room, perhaps with a back boiler behind it, a newer boiler added in the kitchen and a hot water cylinder in an upstairs cupboard. Back boilers are no longer fitted new, so when one fails the replacement usually goes somewhere else, with a new flue and new pipe runs. If you have a gas fire with a boiler behind it, say so when you enquire.
In narrow terraces, the flue is often the deciding factor. It has to keep set distances from windows, doors and neighbouring property, which can rule some positions out. In the conservation area, a flue on the street side of a house may need more thought, and if your home is listed, alterations that affect its character can need listed building consent.
What if my home is not on mains gas?
Some homes in the villages around Ware rely on oil, bottled or tank LPG, or electric heating instead. LPG work is gas work and needs a Gas Safe engineer qualified for it, while oil boilers are a separate trade. Tell us which fuel your home uses so the engineer can say at once whether they can help.
Do you let a flat or house in Ware?
Each rented home with gas needs its safety check every year, and older buildings split into flats can have boilers in awkward places, such as a cupboard on a landing or a loft space. When you enquire, give the date on the last record, say where each boiler is and explain who will open up for the engineer.
How does an enquiry from Ware work?
You fill in one form. With your agreement, it goes to one Gas Safe registered engineer whose area includes your postcode, and to nobody else. They get in touch, talk through the job and settle the cost with you themselves. Herts Heating Repairs only makes the introduction, for which the engineer may pay us. It costs you nothing to ask.
Who you will hear from
We pass your enquiry to one local heating engineer who covers your postcode. It is never sent to a list of companies.
We only pass enquiries to heating engineers whose registration we have checked on the Gas Safe Register. Ask to see their registration ID card when they arrive.
Herts Heating Repairs is an independent enquiry service, not a heating company. With your consent, we pass your enquiry to one local heating engineer who covers your area. The engineer may pay us a fee for each introduction.
