Heating engineers in Cheshunt and Waltham Cross

Boiler help for homeowners, tenants and landlords in Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, Goffs Oak and Flamstead End, including landlord gas safety records.

What is housing like in Cheshunt and Waltham Cross?

These towns sit at the southern end of Hertfordshire, close to the M25 and the London border. Waltham Cross is the smaller of the two, with older terraced streets close to the shops and plenty of twentieth-century housing around them. Cheshunt is larger and mixes older streets, big post-war estates and many newer homes and flats, much of it built on land in the Lea Valley that was once used for nurseries and glasshouses. Goffs Oak and Flamstead End, to the west, are more spread out, with more detached houses.

Are you a tenant with a boiler problem?

Many homes here are rented, from houses on the estates to flats near the stations. If you rent and the heating or hot water fails, your landlord or letting agent is normally responsible for getting it fixed, so tell them first and keep a written note of when you reported it. Tenants are welcome to share this page with their landlord.

What do landlords here need to arrange?

Each rented home with a gas supply needs a safety check by a Gas Safe registered engineer every 12 months, and tenants must receive the record. If you own several flats in one block or several houses nearby, a single enquiry can cover them all. List the addresses, the appliances in each, the dates on the current records and how the engineer will get in, especially where tenants work during the day.

What are boilers like in flats?

In many flats the boiler is a combi in a kitchen cupboard, with a fan-assisted flue through an outside wall. Replacing like for like in the same spot is usually simplest. Some newer blocks do not have an individual gas boiler at all and are heated by a shared system or by electric heating. Where your flat has no boiler of its own, start with the building's managing agent, as a gas engineer may not be the right person.

What about the larger houses towards Goffs Oak?

Houses with several bathrooms frequently pair the boiler with a hot water cylinder rather than a combi. If yours has a sealed, unvented cylinder, mention it, as it has its own safety valves that are worth checking.

What happens after I enquire?

With your permission, your enquiry goes to one engineer on the Gas Safe Register whose area includes your postcode. You will not be passed round several companies. The engineer contacts you and agrees any price directly with you. This site is an enquiry service, not an installer, and may be paid by the engineer for the introduction. Enquiring is free.

Who you will hear from

We pass your enquiry to one local heating engineer who covers your postcode. It is never sent to a list of companies.

We only pass enquiries to heating engineers whose registration we have checked on the Gas Safe Register. Ask to see their registration ID card when they arrive.

Herts Heating Repairs is an independent enquiry service, not a heating company. With your consent, we pass your enquiry to one local heating engineer who covers your area. The engineer may pay us a fee for each introduction.
